Palam area of the capital Delhi was engulfed in screams and black smoke on Wednesday morning. Actually, a massive fire broke out in a four-storey building located in street number-2 of Sadh Nagar. When the fire broke out around 6:30 in the morning, many people were sleeping inside the building. The family trapped inside had no way of escape. There was only one way out, and that too was on fire. The situation was such that the rooms were filled with suffocating smoke. 7 people died in the fire accident.
The scene at the time of the accident was like a horror movie. People standing in the balcony of the building were shouting for help, but the fire was so fierce that no one was able to muster the courage to enter inside. When the smoke started constricting the lungs, a unique example of the father’s love and courage was seen. Rajendra Kashyap’s son Pravesh threw his one-year-old innocent daughter and a small child from the first floor to save them from the fire.
People standing below somehow caught the children. During this time, one girl suffered a fracture in her hand and another child got burnt. But fortunately his life was saved. Another child slipped from the hand and fell down, suffering a serious head injury. According to eyewitnesses, a person slipped and fell down while coming down the fire brigade ladder.
Cosmetic showroom on ground floor, family lived above.
This building belonged to market head Rajendra Kashyap. The structure of the building was no less than a death trap. There was a beauty parlor, a big showroom of bangles and cosmetics in the basement and ground floor. Due to the cosmetic items being inflammable substances, the fire spread at lightning speed. About 15 family members lived in the upper floors. There was only one exit in the entire building, where the flames were highest.
Delay in rescue and anger of local people
Local resident Yogesh said that the fire was seen at 6:45 in the morning. According to him, fire engines arrived half an hour late and it took a lot of time to open the hydraulic machine. People tried to enter inside by breaking the wall of the nearby building, but no one could go inside due to the smoke. 30 fire brigade vehicles brought the fire under control after hours of hard work.
7 people died, search operation continues
According to the Fire Department (DFS), so far 7 people have been confirmed dead in this accident, in which 3 children are also said to be included. When the people were taken out through the hydraulic machine, they were completely unconscious and their bodies were badly burnt.
