New Delhi. Be it opening a bank account or taking government money through DBT, apart from Aadhaar, everyone needs PAN card. Till now, PAN card was made through Aadhar card, but from April 1, 2026, it will not be possible to get PAN card only through Aadhar card. The rules for issuing PAN cards are being changed from April 1. In such a situation, it is important for you to know what is going to be the new rule for making PAN card.
The Common Service Center of the Central Government has said that from April 1, 2026, if you apply for PAN card, it will be necessary to provide proof of date of birth along with Aadhar card. This change has been made in the rules for issuing PAN cards to strengthen digital verification. Till now it was easy to get PAN card made. Because e-KYC was done due to Aadhaar. Because of which photo and signature did not have to be uploaded separately. Now if you have Aadhar card, then you can get PAN number immediately by visiting the Income Tax Department site. The date of birth present in Aadhaar is considered.

To get a PAN card from April 1, you will now have to provide birth certificate, voter ID, 10th board certificate, driving license, passport and an affidavit certified by a magistrate. Let us tell you that there are frequent reports that people who have infiltrated from neighboring countries first got Aadhaar card made fraudulently and then on its basis also obtained PAN card and other documents. In such a situation, due to lack of ease in making PAN card, it is going to be difficult for intruders to collect fake documents. Now from April 1, 2026, PAN cards will be issued only after thoroughly examining the documents to date of birth. However, the Finance Ministry has made it mandatory to link Aadhaar with PAN. Otherwise the PAN card is cancelled.
