Tezzbuzz Desk- There is news of great relief for the passengers traveling by air. The government has implemented new rules to eliminate problems like charging extra in the name of seat selection while booking flight tickets and giving different seats to members of the family despite the same booking.

The Civil Aviation Ministry has issued several important guidelines on Wednesday, which will be implemented through the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). These new rules aim to make air travel more transparent, accountable and passenger-friendly.

Now passengers will be able to choose 60% seats for free

Under the new rules, airlines will have to provide at least 60 percent of the seats on each of their flights to passengers without any extra charge.

This means that now passengers will not be forced to pay extra money to choose a normal seat. This step of the government has been taken to stop arbitrariness in the name of seat selection during web check-in.

Family members will sit together if booked on the same PNR.

It often happens during air travel that despite booking on the same ticket (PNR), family members are forced to sit on different seats.

According to the new rules, if multiple passengers are booked on the same PNR, then the airlines will have to give them priority in giving adjacent or adjacent seats. This will make traveling with children, elderly and family members easier and more convenient than before.

Airlines’ liability in case of flight delay or cancellation

Passengers often face problems in case of flight delay or sudden cancellation. Now the government has instructed airlines to strictly follow passenger rights.

In case of denial of boarding, flight delay or cancellation, airlines will have to provide assistance and information to passengers as per the prescribed rules. Besides, it has been made mandatory to clearly display information to passengers’ rights on the airline’s website, mobile app, booking platform and airport counter. This information will also be made available in regional languages.

Clear rules for pets and special items

The government has also issued guidelines regarding the luggage of passengers. Now the process of carrying heavy sports equipment or musical instruments will be made more transparent, although it will be as per the rules to the safety and operation of the aircraft.

Apart from this, airlines will also have to make clear and transparent policies for passengers who want to travel with pets, so that there is no confusion during the journey.

‘Udan Yatri Cafe’ started at the airport

To increase the convenience of air passengers, the government has started ‘Udan Yatri Café’. A new initiative has been started with the name. Its objective is to provide food items at affordable rates at the airport. In these cafes, tea and water are being provided for around Rs 10, while light snacks are being provided for around Rs 20.

At present, these cafes have been started at many airports in the country and in the coming time, there are plans to start them at more places, especially at crowded airports.

Initiative to make air travel affordable and convenient

The objective of these new rules of the government is to provide better facilities to the passengers and make air travel more transparent. From seat selection to passenger rights, these changes are expected to provide relief to common passengers and make air travel more comfortable than before.
