Rosalía has issued an apology after facing criticism for praising painter Pablo Picasso.
The singer’s comment sparked outlash as people questioned Rosalia why she made the comment without acknowledging allegations about his personal life.
She admitted she was unaware of the abuse allegations linked to Picasso when she previously said she could separate the artist from his work.
The Spanish star apologise for her words and “lack of empathy with those women and their testimonies”.
“Hey, I’ve wanted to make this video for days, but I wanted to choose the right words” she began the video.
The 33-year-old took to TikTok to express regret for her comments, acknowledging that her earlier stance lacked important context and apologizing for any harm caused.
“I’m not comfortable with what happened when I talked about Picasso’s topic. I’m not at peace with what I said about Picasso.”
Rosalia added that she believed Picasso was a “great man” but “didn’t know there were real cases of abuse”.
Previously, while speaking to Mariana Enriquez for Spotify Present, she said “I really like Picasso… and it has never bothered me to separate the artist from the work.”
