Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal is back with Season 3! Season 3 debuted on Adult Swim on Saturday, January 11, 2026, at 11:30 PM ET/PT, and each episode will stream the next day on HBO Max (now Max) starting on January 12, 2026.
Originally renewed in June of 2023, Season 3 had a long production time. Genndy Tartakovsky updated fans throughout 2024 and 2025 that the season was in the process of being created, and that by late 2024, half of the animation was completed to release the season in 2025 or early 2026. Adult Swim officially announced the premiere date of January 11, 2026, in November 2025, along with promotional trailers and first-look images.
As a continuation of the emotional Season 2 finale (Spear appeared to die), Season 3 introduces a very large twist in Spear’s resurrection (in a new undeath/zombie form) with no memory or humanity, both of which ultimately led to an extremely visceral and brutal Season 3 and continued Spear and Fang’s story. Each episode of Season 3 has aired weekly on Adult Swim, with the series finale, “An Echo of Eternity,” airing on Monday, March 15, 2026.
As of mid-March 2026, Season 3 has ended (or almost ended, depending on when you read this), and all reviews and discussions about Season 3 suggest that this season is the most intense, emotional, and possibly the best of the series; however, the resurrection arc will continue to be debated by fans.
There is currently no announcement from Adult Swim regarding Season 4but Tartakovsky has stated that Season 4 will follow the evolution of the series into an anthology format for season 4 (shifting to new stories/characters in the same raw, low-dialogue style), but it’s uncertain and depends on factors like reception.
If you’re catching up, Seasons 1-3 are available on Max, and the show remains highly acclaimed for its animation, storytelling, and visceral action.
