Spicy Chawli
Spicy Chawli is a delicious and nutritious Indian curry made by cooking cowpea (chawli) with onions, tomatoes and spices. It has a slight spiciness and aroma of spices, which makes it extremely tasty. This dish is rich in protein and fiber and is considered a healthy option to have with roti or rice.

Ingredients
2 cup Chawli (Lobbia)
2-2 spoon Coriander Powder and Cumin Powder
1/4 spoon turmeric powder
4 spoon Oil
2 small Onion finely chopped
5-6 garlic cloves crushed
small piece Ginger tight
1 Tomato finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon cumin
Salt as per taste
Instructions
Step 1: Soaking the Chawli
Wash chawli thoroughly and soak it in water overnight (8–10 hours).
Step 2: Boiling Chawli
Drain the water the next day. Add chawli, salt, coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric and water as required in a pressure cooker. Cook for 3-4 whistles.
Step 3: Preparing Tadka
Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds in it. When cumin starts crackling, add onion and fry till it turns golden.
Step 4: Roasting the Masala
Now add garlic and ginger and fry until aroma comes. Then add tomatoes and cook until the masala leaves oil.
Step 5: Mixing Chawli
Put the boiled chawli along with its water in the pan. Cook on medium flame for 5–7 minutes so that the spices mix well.
Step 6: Serve
When the vegetables are cooked well, turn off the gas. Garnish with green coriander and serve with hot roti or rice.
Notes
Tips and Tricks:
If you want more gravy then you can add some more hot water.
You can also add red chilli powder or green chilli for spicy taste.
Instead of pressure cooker, you can also cook on low flame.
Adding some garam masala at the end further enhances the taste.
Adding some salt while soaking Chawli softens it quickly.
