Pradosh Vrat 2026: The Pradosh Vrat holds immense significance in the Hindu religion. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva. When this fast falls on a Monday, it is known as Som Pradosh Vrat. Since Monday is Lord Mahadev's favorite day, the significance of this specific conjunction is further enhanced. The Som Pradosh Vrat is considered particularly fruitful for attaining happiness, prosperity, mental peace, and liberation from the adverse effects (doshas) associated with the Moon. In this article, let us explore the key aspects regarding the worship rituals, mantras, and Bhog (sacred food offerings) associated with the Som Pradosh Vrat, as outlined below:
Significance of Som Pradosh Vrat (Pradosh Vrat 2026 Significance)
It is believed that during the *Pradosh Kaal* (the twilight period), Lord Shiva performs a blissful dance atop Mount Kailash. Any devotee who worships Him during this specific time sees all their wishes fulfilled. Observing the Som Pradosh Vrat bestows upon an individual the boon of good health and helps alleviate financial hardships currently prevailing in their life.
Worship Rituals (Pradosh Vrat 2026 Puja Rituals)
Wake up early in the morning, take a bath, and take a solemn pledge (Sankalp) to observe the fast before Lord Shiva.
During the *Pradosh Kaal* (twilight period), take a bath once again and wear clean clothes.
Perform the *Abhishek* (ritual bathing) of the Shivling—either at a temple or at home—using holy Ganges water, milk, yogurt, honey, and clarified butter (ghee).
Apply a Tilak (sacred mark) of sandalwood paste to Lord Shiva and offer *Bilva* leaves, Datura flowers, Madar flowers, and Akshat (unbroken rice grains).
Perform the worship of Goddess Parvati in accordance with the prescribed rituals.
Ensure you offer her the *Solah Shringar* (the sixteen traditional adornments).
Read or listen to the sacred legend (*Katha*) associated with the Pradosh Vrat, and conclude the worship by performing the *Aarti* (ritual waving of lamps) for the Divine Family of Lord Shiva using camphor.
Seek forgiveness for any errors or omissions that may have occurred during the worship ceremony.
Bhog (Pradosh Vrat 2026 Bhog List)
Lord Shiva is known for His innocence and simplicity; He is easily pleased even by mere water and *Bilva* leaves. However, on the occasion of Som Pradosh, offering white-colored food items as *Bhog* is considered highly auspicious. Therefore, you may offer *Makhana Kheer* (fox nut pudding), Barfi, or *Panchamrit* to Lord Mahadev.
