April is the perfect time to head on a spring holiday abroad before prices rise for the summer season. If you're hoping for some spring sun, there's one destination that should be on your list. The Canary Islands are a popular tourist destination with Brits - but one stands out for its stunning scenery, warm weather and affordable drinks.

Lanzarote is an island that's often returned to by its visitors who enjoy its incredible scenery. In April, weather forecasts show temperatures will reach up to 23C. And Brits can sit back and enjoy a pint for as cheap as €2 (1.72).

If you're planning on visiting the island, one must-visit spot is Timanfaya National Park.

On Tripadvisor, the area is described as an awe-inspiring stretch of volcanic wasteland and a "desolate and bleak monument to the power of Mother Nature."

One person who visited the park said: "Wonderful experience, so glad we visited. The landscape is unbelievable- looks like it from another planet. It's not to be missed."

Another person penned: "We drove ourselves to the national park and booked our tickets online in advance.

"We had to sit down before there was parking available (count on half an hour anyway), but the landscape in which you are waiting makes up for a lot.

"The bus ride was worth it, with beautiful views over the unspoiled nature and explanations in Spanish/English/German.

"There was plenty of time to take pictures from the bus. After the bus ride, some spectacle with the fire and the geyser, nice extras! Definitely one of the must-dos of Lanzarote for us."

Another popular spot for holidaymakers is Playa Blanca. For those looking to enjoy a walk, Play Blanca's promenade is a scenic and exciting place to take a stroll.

If you want to browse souvenirs, you can enjoy the shops which line the promenade or, if you'd rather soak in the seaside, you can enjoy the waves crashing onto the beach as you walk along.

For a unique experience, you should visit Lagomar Museum. The breathtaking rock gardens are home to caves, tunnels, secret passages and a lake. The museum is the perfect combination of nature and art.

If you're hoping to visit, you can reach Lanzarote in around four hours and 15 minutes on a flight from London. April is the perfect time to book a trip to the island before the summer crowds head to the area.
