Chaitra Navratri Festival Approaches

The vibrant festival of Chaitra Navratri, dedicated to honoring the Divine Feminine, is set to commence soon. According to ancient texts, the way the Goddess arrives and departs during this sacred time carries profound meaning, often interpreted as a sign for the future. This year, as per the Vedic calendar, Mother Durga is expected to arrive on a *Doli* (palanquin) and depart on an elephant, which are considered inauspicious signs for the nation.

Astrological Insights on the Festival

Pandit Subhash Pandey, an astrology expert from Banaras Hindu University, shared that *Chaitra Navratri* will begin on March 19 and end on March 27. The *Dashami Tithi* (the tenth lunar day) will also start on this day, right after noon. This means that the fast-breaking ceremony (*Parana*) and the farewell to the Goddess will occur simultaneously. He emphasized that the Goddess's arrival on a *Doli* is viewed unfavorably, potentially leading to unrest and economic difficulties in the country, along with other challenges.

Implications of the Goddess's Departure

Nature's Fierce Aspect Will Be Witnessed
The festival concludes on a Friday, indicating that the Goddess will depart on a *Gaj* (elephant). This departure is thought to reflect the fierce side of nature, raising concerns about possible unforeseen disasters affecting both the nation and the world. Pandit Pandey noted that the *Markandeya Purana* suggests that sincere worship during *Navratri* can help alleviate the negative impacts of these ominous signs.

The Significance of Creation

The Genesis of Creation Began on This Very Day
The universe's creation is believed to have started on the *Chaitra Shukla Pratipada Tithi* (the first lunar day of the bright fortnight in *Chaitra*), which also marks the Hindu New Year. According to the *Devi Purana*, before creation began, the universe was shrouded in darkness. It was then that *Adi Shakti* (the Primordial Power), Mother Durga, conceived the idea of creation and presented it to Lord Shiva and Lord Brahma. Only after receiving her divine instruction did Lord Brahma initiate the creation process.
