The Indian wicketkeeper Sanju Samson was spotted relaxing at a local tea shop in Kerala when fans spotted him. The batter, who was a part of the 2026 T20 World Cup-winning Indian team, returned to his home state on March 9. Before joining the Chennai Super Kings for the upcoming 2026 IPL, he was seen chilling with his friends in a tea stall. Soon after that, the fans spotted him. The tea stall workers approached him for selfies, which he took, followed by a few other fans.
The video went viral on social media, with fans praising his simplicity. Notably, he was dressed in all black and no masks.

This is not the first time that Sanju Samson's simplicity caught the eyes of the fans. Sanju, who won the player of the tournament award, was spotted sitting alone away from the hubbub of the camera. The rest of the squad was dancing with the family and wives in front of the camera after winning the 2026 T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, when the famous commentator Harsha Bhogle went to meet him, Sanju calmly patted his side, gesturing for Bhogle to sit beside him on the podium.

Sanju Samson, the star of the T20 World Cup
Sanju Samson will enter the IPL 2026 season riding the momentum of a historic T20 World Cup campaign with India. The wicketkeeper-batter was the undisputed star of the tournament, finishing as the Player of the Tournament with 321 runs at an average of 80.25 and a strike rate of over 199.
Samson delivered when it mattered most, scoring an unbeaten 97 in the quarter-final against West Indies, followed by 89 in the semi-final against England and another 89 in the final against New Zealand. His aggressive yet composed middle-order batting provided India with stability throughout the knockout stages.
Well, soon Samson will be joining the Chennai Super Kings after a highly discussed trade from the Rajasthan Royals. Samson is believed to strengthen CSK’s top order while also offering wicketkeeping and long-term leadership potential.
