ICC T20I Rankings: India's Ishan Kishan becomes second-ranked batter

India's stellar performance in the recently concluded ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 has resulted in a major shake-up in the latest ICC Men's T20I Player Rankings.
The team, led by Suryakumar Yadav, successfully defended its after defeating New Zealand by a whopping 96 runs in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
Ishan Kishan, who played a major role in India's campaign, has climbed to the second spot in the batting rankings, a list led by his compatriot Abhishek Sharma.

Following his blistering half-century against New Zealand in the 2026 T20 World Cup final, Abhishek has retained his position (875 points) atop the ICC T20I Batting Rankings.
Meanwhile, Ishan has jumped two places to second (871 points) after scoring 317 runs during the tournament. The latter had a strike rate of 193.29 after nine matches.
The wicketkeeper-batter scored three half-centuries, including a quickfire 54 (25) in the final.

Apart from Abhishek and Ishan, other players have also made significant strides in the rankings.
New Zealand's Tim Seifert and England's Jacob Bethell have both reached career-best positions after impressive performances during the T20 World Cup. Seifert jumped four places to sixth, while Bethell climbed a whopping 17 spots to reach 16th.
India duo Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube also moved up the batting ranks.

In the T20I rankings for bowlers, India's Varun Chakravarthy has lost his top position to Afghanistan's Rashid Khan after the T20 World Cup.
Although Afghanistan didn't go beyond the group stage, Rashid has claimed the top spot with 753 points.
Meanwhile, while Chakravarthy, who bowled some expensive spells, has dropped to second (740 points).
However, Adil Rashid, Jasprit Bumrah, and Axar Patel have all made impressive gains.

All-rounder rankings
The race for the top spot in the T20I all-rounders rankings also remains close.
Zimbabwe skipper Sikandar Raza and India's Hardik Pandya have both achieved career-high ratings, according to the ICC. They now occupy the top two spots with 328 and 299 points, respectively.
New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner also achieved a new career-best rating by jumping three spots to ninth in the T20I all-rounders category.
