T20 World Cup Sanju Samson Prize Money: In the history of Indian cricket, the T20 World Cup 2026 victory will always be remembered for Sanju Samson’s remarkable comeback. This victory not only marks Team India’s second consecutive world champions, but also a triumph of perseverance from a player who initially found it difficult to secure a place in the playing eleven.
Sanju Samson: Team India’s new troubleshooter
Samson played only five matches in the entire tournament, but he made history by scoring 321 runs in those matches. The most notable aspect of his batting was his three consecutive half-centuries, laying the foundation for the team’s victory.
His journey began against Zimbabwe, where he scored 24 runs. His true brilliance came when he smashed an unbeaten 97 in a must-win match against the West Indies. He never looked back, scoring 89 against England in the semi-final and 89 against New Zealand in the final to play a key role in India’s third (and second consecutive) title.
Sanju Samson was named the “Player of the Tournament” for his outstanding performance. He was awarded a prize money of US$25,000 (approximately 2.1 million rupees) for this achievement.
Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah, who shattered the Kiwi team’s back with his lethal bowling in the final match, was named Player of the Match for taking four wickets . Bumrah received approximately ₹8.4 lakh as prize money.
