UPEIDA: In response to the increasing traffic in Noida and surrounding areas, a significant project is set to commence. The Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) is preparing to construct a six-lane elevated expressway spanning approximately 30 kilometers along the banks of the Yamuna River. This initiative has already received approval from the Noida Authority's board. To advance the project, representatives from UPEIDA's consulting firm, Almondz Global Infra, began a physical inspection of the site on Tuesday.

Estimated Cost of ₹4000 Crores

During this inspection, the company's experts will evaluate the entire proposed route and hold discussions with officials from the Noida Authority and the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority. Following the inspection, the technical and design processes for the project will be initiated. The construction of this elevated expressway is expected to cost around ₹4000 crores.

Key Features of the Project

A notable aspect of this project is that it will provide direct and rapid connectivity from Delhi to the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar. Currently, travelers from Delhi and Noida face a lengthy journey to reach the airport, but the new expressway will significantly simplify and expedite this travel.

Traffic Diversion Benefits

Another major advantage of this project is its potential to alleviate the traffic pressure on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. Thousands of vehicles traverse this route daily, often leading to congestion. With the new elevated expressway, a substantial portion of this traffic is expected to shift to the new route.

Funding Sources for the Project

The costs associated with this project will be shared among the Noida, Greater Noida, and Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authorities, with the Noida Authority contributing the largest share. Approximately 23 kilometers of the total 30-kilometer stretch will be located within the Noida region.

Connectivity Features

This expressway will be a fully six-lane elevated road featuring three major loops to facilitate easy entry and exit for vehicles coming from various routes. The first loop will connect the Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad (FNG) route at Sector 168. The second loop will provide connectivity between Sector 149A and Sector 150 near Sector 150. The third loop will link the expressway to the Greater Noida Pari Chowk.

The elevated road will commence from the Okhla Barrage, passing through Haranandi and along the banks of the Yamuna, ultimately connecting to the Yamuna Expressway near the village of Gharbara, opposite Gautam Buddha University. This will create a direct and efficient route from Delhi to the Jewar Airport.

Easier Access to Noida Airport

Krishna Karunesh, CEO of the Noida Authority, informed a local media outlet that the construction of this elevated expressway will greatly facilitate traffic heading towards the Noida International Airport in the future. Passengers traveling to Agra and Lucknow will also benefit significantly from this development. Additionally, the expressway is expected to contribute to reducing pollution levels.

Bypassing City Traffic

Vehicles heading towards Delhi, Haryana, and other cities will be able to transit directly via the Yamuna embankment elevated expressway without entering the Noida city limits. This will help decrease both traffic congestion and pollution within the city. Overall, this project is poised to play a crucial role in the development of Noida, Greater Noida, and the Yamuna Expressway area, aiding in the mitigation of future traffic challenges.
