A family-run clothes retailer based in North Yorkshire has entered administration. Administrators were appointed for Kit and Kaboodal last Tuesday, according to a notice published on The Gazette - the official public record website - on Monday.

The Express understands the administrators are currently in negotiations for the sale of the business assets. Administrators DWF Associates told the Express it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage. Kit and Kaboodal's website currently states: "We'll be back soon... We are making some exciting new updates! Please check back later."

The company was contacted for comment.

Kit and Kaboodal is a family-run and family-owned online fashion retailer based in Great Ouseburn, near York, founded in 2013 by Helen and John Marsden.

In 2022, it was reported that the brand was set to expand its operation into the US and Australia following record monthly profits.

The company stocks designs mainly by an Italian brand, collaborating to create exclusive, in-house pieces, The Yorkshire Post reported last year.

On its LinkedIn page, Kit and Kaboodal says: "As a independent family owned business our mission is to offer stylish, affordable and versatile women's clothing, designed to flatter all ages, shapes and sizes.

"Easy-to-wear outfits that can move you seamlessly and effortlessly through the seasons."

Kit and Kaboodal has not posted on its social media channels since last Monday (March 2) - a day before the appointment of administrations, according to notice on The Gazette.
