It's been another season of chaos on and off the pitch at Tottenham. After the highs of winning last season's Europa League, the north Londoners have come crashing back down to earth in the Premier League.

With just nine games of the season left to play, Spurs sit one point above the relegation zone. As bad as things were for 17th-place Tottenham in the league last season, they were never seriously at threat of going down. This year, things are much different.

The only surprise about Thomas Frank's departure was that it didn't come earlier, with Spurs opting to go down the precarious route of hiring an interim until the end of the season. Igor Tudor was their chosen candidate, but the Croatian has become the first Spurs boss since Martin Jol to lose his first three matches in charge - less than ideal.

But it's also been a tumultuous year in the boardroom too, as Daniel Levy has stepped down from his role as chairman after nearly 25 years in the position. Meanwhile, it was announced that sporting director Fabio Paratici was also set to leave, having taken up a position at struggling Serie A outfit Fiorentina.

It's easy to see how and why things might've spiralled out of control at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but according to reports in Italy, Spurs could be close to finding a replacement for Paratici. It's in the form of another Italian, this time Cristiano Giuntoli, with suggestions that he was present in N17 for the recent defeat to Crystal Palace.

As per Il Giornale, the appearance was a 'clear sign' that Spurs are considering bringing Giuntoli to the club, with claims that the former Napoli sporting director is ready to return to work. Giuntoli left the Italian club in 2023, but Spurs could face competition from Roma, who are also said to be interested in his services.

One of the first jobs on Giuntoli's agenda, should he take the job, would be to find Spurs' next permanent manager. That's assuming Tudor doesn't wrestle things back in between now and the end of the season, of course.

Mauricio Pochettino is being heavily linked with a return to the Premier League club, but that will likely have to wait until after the World Cup. Roberto De Zerbi is another name being touted as a potential Tottenham boss.
