On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Uttar Pradesh Education Department in collaboration with UNICEF organized the state level children’s festival ‘Pragati 2026: From Self-Respect to Equality’ in the capital Lucknow.



In this program organized at Dayal Gateway located in Vibhuti Khand of Gomti Nagar, girls from 75 districts of the state demonstrated their talent, self-confidence and leadership abilities. Basic Education Minister of Uttar Pradesh Sandeep Singh was present in the program as the chief guest.


Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh said that today daughters are hoisting the flag of their talent in every field. Important efforts are being made to bring positive change in the society by developing self-esteem and leadership abilities of girls through education. He said that the state government is continuously committed to the education, security and empowerment of girls.


On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary (Basic and Secondary Education) Partha Sarathi Sen Sharma, Director General School Education Monica Rani and UNICEF Uttar Pradesh Chief Zakari Adam also addressed the program. Speakers said that only with quality education, self-confidence and equality of opportunities, girls can play leadership roles in the society.


Participants from 75 districts of the state took part in the state level program. After district and divisional level competitions, talented children selected from 18 divisions displayed the ability and confidence of daughters through their creative presentations on the state level stage.


During the program, cultural programs, street plays, songs, dance and yoga performances presented by the girls were the center of attraction. The message of education, women empowerment and gender equality was effectively conveyed through these presentations.



Comic books prepared by children and special sessions on sharing inspirational experiences also impressed the gathering. In the programme, 23 distinguished girls who made significant contributions in the field of sports, education and social change were honoured.



Among them, Bhavana from Moradabad and Anokhi and Payal Pal from Lucknow were honored for their sports achievements, while Vanshika Yadav and Shikha Gangwar from Bareilly were appreciated for their national level achievements in Taekwondo.


Similarly, other daughters from different districts were also honored for their excellent work in education, sports and social leadership. 22 special stalls based on different themes were also set up at the venue, which became the major attraction of the entire event.




Through these stalls, activities to innovation in education, gender equality, scientific approach, social-emotional learning, parent involvement and career guidance were presented in an interesting and interactive manner.


Activity based learning materials, science innovations, comic book making and puppet presentations attracted special attention of children and parents. The stalls were divided into four major zones.




Messages to gender equality, child rights and life skills were conveyed through activity-based learning materials and puppet presentations prepared by teachers in the first and second zones. In the third zone, activities to social-emotional learning, scientific approach and creative expression were organized.


Whereas, in the fourth zone, children were made aware of future opportunities and rights through activities like career counselling, parent dialogue, leadership development and Children’s Parliament. In this way, the ‘Pragati 2026’ program broadly strengthened the message of equality and empowerment through education while giving a platform to the talent, confidence and leadership abilities of the girl child.
