The ICC T20 World Cup has a lesser-known connection to Jaipur. The tournament's famous trophy was created in the city.

Jaipur-based trophy designer Amit Pabuwal said he designed the trophy for the tournament after Australia's Minale Bryce prepared the initial design.

The design outline of the trophy was prepared in 2007

Pabuwal explained that the trophy's design outline was developed in 2007, the year the inaugural ICC Men's T20 World Cup was held. Following this, the ICC commissioned him to design the trophy. This is how the trophy was created.

Why did the ICC approach Pabulal for the trophy?

Pabuwal said that he had earlier designed the world's largest silver Friendship Cup trophy for cricket, which attracted everyone's attention and eventually the ICC approached him for the T20 World Cup trophy.

What ingredients were used to make toffee?

He said the ICC initially planned to create the trophy using a mixture of titanium and glass, so that the design would reflect the fast and modern style of T20 cricket. However, the glass parts repeatedly broke when integrated with the metal structure, making the concept technically difficult to achieve.

The final version of the trophy was then crafted from silver with platinum plating. Pabuwal explained that the original trophy remains at ICC headquarters, while the winning team receives a replica. He explained that the trophy stands approximately 21 inches tall and weighs approximately six kilograms.
