Pune To Ahilyanagar Flyover | The central government has taken major steps to reduce the increasing traffic congestion and pollution in Pune. It has been planned to provide a permanent solution to the traffic problems in the city through national highway projects worth around 45 thousand crore rupees. This includes the construction of the longest flyover in the country. Union Roads and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari gave information about these projects in a meeting held in Pune.

He said that the central government is determined to solve the traffic congestion on the highways in Pune. The Center has requested the state government to grant GST exemption, bear the cost of land acquisition and waive off royalty on construction materials. He also appealed that the foundation of four important road projects is planned and the state government should also start preparations for it. Three of these four projects will be developed by the Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC) for the central government. All these projects are to be implemented jointly by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and MSIDC.

An important project on the Pune to Ahilyanagar National Highway will be constructed between Pune and Shirur. It is a 53.4 km long elevated road and is expected to cost around Rs 7,514 crore. In the next phase, this route will be developed as a 192 km greenfield expressway corridor from Shirur to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar at a cost of Rs 14,886 crore. Importantly, the six-tiered flyover of 31 km in this 53 km elevated route will be the longest flyover in the country (Pune to Ahilyanagar Flyover). This flyover will start from Kharadi Junction and end near Ranjangaon MIDC.

The project will be developed in three phases. Initially, there will be a 7.4 km flyover between Kharadi and Vitthalwadi and a four-level road below. In the next section, there are also plans to build a flyover for vehicles on the first level and a metro line on the second level. Due to this project, the journey which currently takes one and a half hours will be completed in just 45 minutes. Also, the travel time between Pune and Aurangabad will be reduced to around two hours, as the route will bypass Ahilyanagar city. Pune To Ahilyanagar Flyover

At present there is a huge amount of traffic on the route from Pune to Shirur. Due to industrial areas, IT parks and increasing population, this road always sees traffic congestion. Especially in Kharadi, Lonikand, Shikrapur and Ranjangaon areas, a large amount of traffic jam occurs every day. Due to this, passengers have to stay stuck in traffic for a long time. But now after the construction of new flyover, this journey will be comfortable and in less time. Also, industrial, trade and travel connectivity between the two cities of Pune and Nagar will be strengthened.
