Global football icon Lionel Messi was seen wearing Team India’s jersey in an Instagram as it created buzz among both soccer and cricket fans ahead of T20 World Cup 2026 final crossover between the two sports. Adidas India shared the image on the social media post of Instagram as Messi was seen striking a stoic pose while wearing Team India’s jersey.

The Argentinian footballer is the brand ambassador of the German apparel and footwear brand, having signed a lifetime contract with them in 2017. The image shared by Adidas India on Instagram was timed well by the brand, given the Men in Blue are set to take on New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2026 final on March 8, Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Suryakumar Yadav and co. are aiming to win the third T20 World Cup title for India and second on the trot. Should they accomplish it, Team India will become the first team to successfully defend their crown and win it on their home soil.

“There are nerves, butterflies in the stomach, but as I ​always say – if there’s no pressure, there’s no fun. I’m very ​excited. All the boys and support staff, and I’m sure all of India is excited for tomorrow. We do not talk about cricket-intense situations because players, like Axar, Arshdeep, (Jasprit) Bumrah – all these people, they know what to do. We ​want to be very relaxed, be in the present, not think ​about what ⁠will happen in the final.”

Team India notably haven’t beaten New Zealand in a T20 World Cup game.
