As part of the initiative dubbed “Chalo Chamba”, the district administration is gearing up to host the MTB Chamba Cross Country Cycling Race on March 21–22, 2026. This event will feature prominent cyclists from across the nation. A review meeting was held today at the DC office auditorium, led by Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal, to finalize the event's preparations.




The race, organized in partnership with the Chamba Cycling Association, will traverse a demanding 65-kilometer route that includes Chamba–Bhadram–Gaila–Diolihati–Sungal–Koha–Chameenu–Sarahan–Penela–Wat–Kumarka–Baridehra–Brijeshwari Temple, concluding at the Chamba Circuit House.




To facilitate a seamless experience, the Deputy Commissioner instructed officials to collaborate with the police for traffic management and maintaining law and order along the race route. He also confirmed the deployment of Home Guards and disaster volunteers for additional support. The District Tourism Development Officer presented a comprehensive plan for departmental coordination necessary for the event.




The Chamba Cycling Association announced that races will be conducted in various categories, including Sub-Junior, Under-19, Open, Masters, Women Junior, and Women Senior. This event is anticipated to attract considerable interest as part of the district's efforts to promote tourism and sports.




The meeting also covered logistical arrangements involving the Public Works Department, health services, rescue operations, and disaster management. Senior officials present included Additional SP Dinesh Kumar Sharma, SDM Priyanshu Khati, Acting Assistant Commissioner Rahul Kumar, CMO Dr. J.S. Bhardwaj, DTO Rajiv Mishra, DYSSO Rupesh Kumar, along with representatives from fire services and disaster management, and Chamba Cycling Association President Chandrakant.
