New Delhi: England came so close to a victory in the T20 World Cup 2026 semifinal against India but at the end, the defending champions prevailed by 7 runs. This was the team’s second consecutive T20 World Cup semis loss against India after they had suffered a defeat in the 2024 edition as well.

England’s coach, Brendon McCullum, who looked dejected towards the end of the game, has shed light on his future as the coach of the team after their exit from the marquee T20 event. He expressed that he would love to continue as England’s head coach as the team has achieved some really good cool things over the last few years but there is still so much left to attain for the side.

Brendon McCullum speaks on his future

Talking about the coaching job, the former Kiwi player said that he is in love with the job and wants to do it over and over again. But right now, it is time to get back home after being on the road for a good time period.

‘I love the job. It’s a great job. It doesn’t come without its challenges, of course, but that is the nature of it. I feel we have achieved some really cool things over the last few years but there is still so much to achieve with the side, across all formats. I would love to carry on, so we will see what unfolds over the next little while. Right now, after being on the road for a fair bit of time, it’s about getting home, watching some fast horses and playing some shocking golf,’ McCullum told Sky Sports as quoted by their website.

‘A bit of time to reflect, to let things land and objectively look at what is and isn’t working. We will see what happens. I would love to help lead the team through to the next stage,’ McCullum said.
