Harry Kane will miss Bayern Munich's trip to Borussia Monchengladbach on Friday, giving him one less game to break Robert Lewandowski's goalscoring record. England captain Kane has already hit 30 goals in the Bundesliga this season, featuring in all 24 of Bayern's matches.
But the striker has been ruled out Friday's clash after suffering a calf injury. "He got a knock on his calf and hasn't recovered yet," Bayern manager Vincent Kompany confirmed at his pre-match press conference.
"It's nothing serious for the time being but we'd need maybe another a day for him to be involved. We're pretty relaxed. Of course, we would have liked Harry to be involved but these things happen."
Kane, 32, will be aiming to fit for Bayern's Champions League round-of-16 first leg away to Atalanta on Tuesday. The German champions return to Bundesliga action at Bayer Leverkusen next Satruday.

Should he be available to face Leverkusen, Kane will have nine games to break Lewandowski's record of 41 goals in a single Bundesliga season. The current Barcelona star broke Gerd Muller's long-standing record of 40 goals on the final day of the 2020-21 campaign, having made 29 appearances that season.
In a recent interview, Lewandowski hailed Kane's form but joked that he'd have scored even more if he didn't pick up an injury in March 2021. "Harry Kane is scoring always so many goals and he's playing really good and he's doing a great job," the 37-year-old told Sky Sports.
"And then I saw I did this in 29 games… if I played 34 games, I can only imagine I could even score more!" Lewandowski then laughed: "Because of him, I can be more proud of my record now!"

Kane has been tipped to replace Lewandowski when the Pole's contract with Barcelona expires in June. Lewandowski, however, isn't ruling out extending his four-year stay, although he has a lucrative offer from MLS club Chicago Fire.
"What is good is that I don't have pressure," he added. "At 30 or a few years [younger], this kind of feeling is going to be different. 'I want to see where I'm going to play'. But in this moment, I don't have to know. I have patience.
"I'll give myself around three months to decide what I want to do. Me, just me."
