Britney Spears was taken into custody late Wednesday and booked at the Ventura County Main Jail af/ter being pulled over by police near her residence.
According to Reuters, the California Highway Patrol’s Ventura Communications Center received a call around 8:48 pm reporting a black BMW driving at a high speed and moving erratically. Officers located the vehicle soon after and conducted a traffic stop. Officials stated that Britney Spears, who was alone in the car, showed signs of impairment that could be linked to alcohol and drugs. The singer reportedly went through a series of field sobriety tests at the scene.
Later, TMZ reported that Britney Spears was taken to a hospital to check blood alcohol levels. This was not related to any injury but part of the standard procedure. Investigators also mentioned that an unidentified substance was allegedly found inside the vehicle. The substance has reportedly been sent for testing.
After the arrest, Britney Spears’ manager Cade Hudson spoke to TMZ about the situation. He described the incident as unfortunate and stated that Britney Spears will cooperate with the authorities and will go through the legal procedure. According to him, now is the time to help Britney Spears get on with her life in a healthy direction.
He also shared that Britney Spears’ children will spend time with her and that close family members and loved ones are working on a support plan for her well being.
