A commuter who boarded his usual train to university received an unexpected treat after taking his seat. The daily journey to work or lectures can be particularly mundane and tiresome depending on your perspective.
Rush hour can also prove stressful with trains packed fuller than normal and stations heaving with hundreds of commuters at once. So when Harrison, a university student in the North West of England, stepped onto his 9.34am service to Stockport, he settled into his seat only to be met with a delightful surprise.
The CrossCountry train manager welcomed passengers over the tannoy by performing his own musical number he'd composed to the melody of Lord of the Dance, a traditional English hymn.
He sang: "...wherever you will be, I am the guard on the train said he, and I'll take you all, I'll take you all with me. And I'll take you on a little adventure to Stockport with me."
Harrison posted footage of his experience on TikTok, where he appeared stunned before erupting into laughter. He titled the clip "Feeling down? Just catch the 09:34 to Stockport".
The train guard then announced: "Ey-up folks how we all diddling, a very warm welcome onboard your 9.34 CrossCountry adventure to Stockport.
"My name is Rico, and I'm your friendly train manager. I'll be looking after you today."
The clip has been viewed by over 300,000 users, and has attracted hundreds of comments applauding the man for his enthusiasm.
The official Premier Inn Hotel TikTok account commented: "Safe to say Rico's a morning person."
Another individual remarked: "You know what, the UK is that miserable, this would actually cheer me up."
A third chimed in: "I'm pretty sure this would cure my depression."
A fourth shared: "I fear this man did the Nottingham London train once cuz the announcements for Loughborough and Leicester were 'now approaching Loughborough and if you say it wrong looga barooga' and then 'your next stop is Leicester, home of Gary Lineker and.... crisps?' I think about it daily and it was over a year ago."
Another commented: "Probably the happiest bloke in England good for him."
