A big update is on the way for millions of homes with Sky. The TV giant has just announced an upcoming launch that will add an extra dimension when watching sporting action. The changes, which will arrive soon, include more flexibility and choice throughout the new F1 season, which gets underway this weekend in Australia. Sky says it is adding a smart new sidebar to televisions, which will pop up during races and feature Race Control, Recap, so viewers can re-watch the nail-biting overtakes and more, as well as in-race standings.

That's not all. Fans will also be able to see dedicated driver and team pages that will feature onboard cams, enhanced data, explainers and improved homepage navigation.

Sky has confirmed that the boost will come to Sky Sports subscribers using Sky Glass, Sky Stream and Sky Q customers.

There's no word on a launch date just yet, but it will be available later this season. As long as customers are paying for Sky Sports they'll get the boost added at no extra cost.

"New for 2026, fans can look forward to even more flexibility and choice with a new immersive sidebar for TV viewing during race weekends," Sky confirmed in an email sent to Express.co.uk.

This F1 upgrade is't the only upcoming change from Sky.

Sky has announced a blockbuster update that's definitely worth watching out for. The UK television provider is introducing an impressive new Ultimate TV subscription plan that bundles some of the world's most popular streaming services at a lower monthly cost.

For just £24 per month, new and existing customers will soon get access to Disney+, Netflix, Hayu and the feature-packed HBO Max app, which is set to launch next month.

Sky says the bundle represents strong value for money, with around £20 worth of streaming apps under one roof.
