‘Toxic’ makers respond to Varun Dhawan’s film clash chatter

A new release date for Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has quietly turned into a fresh Bollywood box office clash.

The film, led by Yash, was first scheduled to arrive on 19 March. But on Wednesday, its makers suddenly shifted the date to 4 June, saying the ongoing crisis in the Middle East made the earlier release difficult in that region.

The move also helped the film avoid a big clash with Ranveer Singh’s upcoming film Dhurandhar 2.

But the new date has created another problem.

Now this dark action drama will open on the same day as Is youth to love?starring Varun Dhawan alongside Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde.

The romantic comedy had already locked 4 June 2026 months ago. Industry sources say the team was surprised to see the new announcement online.

A source told Bollywood Hungama“If a film has already locked a release slot and another filmmaker plans to come on the same day, it’s customary to inform the makers who had taken the date first. In this case, that didn’t happen.

Varun Dhawan, director David Dhawan and producer Ramesh Taurani learned that Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups was arriving in the same week as their film only after actor Yash posted the news on social media.”

Producer Ramesh Taurani has said that nothing is decided yet.

Meanwhile, the makers of Toxic say the situation was handled openly. A spokesperson from KVN Productions said their team had reached out to Taurani in advance and the conversation happened before the public announcement.

Meanwhile, both films, which belong to different genres, remain set for 4 June; one is a revenge drama, the other is a light romantic comedy.

And unless one side moves, the summer box office may see an unexpected face-off.
