Trade experts on Dhurandhar 2's solo release after Toxic's postponement

Zoom exclusively reached out to a few trade experts to know their opinion of Toxic's postponement and what it meant for Dhurandhar 2. Movie industry tracker Ramesh Bala believes that all roads are cleared now for Ranveer's Dhurandhar 2.

Win-win situation for Dhurandhar 2

Trade expert and exhibitor Akkshay Rathie opined that the postponement of Toxic is a 'win-win' situation for Dhurandhar 2 and Yash's film. It is because he feels if the movies had released together, they would've dented about Rs 75 crore to Rs 100 crore of net box office business from each other.

"And as an exhibitor, I think it would have been an unfortunate scenario for us, especially representing the long tail of it. Because single screens and two-screen properties would largely have to choose one over the other. Therefore, almost entirely missing out on the entire revenues that will be generated from the other," he said.

Rathie further stated, "And by having them come on different dates, we will now be able to optimally monetise both the films and ensure that the business is maximized not just for us, but also for the entire value chain, including the distributors, producers and studios. So, I really think it's a good win-win (scenario)." He also mentioned that the makers of Toxic have shown great pragmatism. "They're ensuring that every market there is for the film can be monetized optimally and that I think accrues well for everyone involved."

Why was Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups postponed?
