The West Bengal government has decided to open a dedicated helpdesk for people who have applied under the 'Banglar Yuva Sathi' scheme.

The decision was taken on Monday, 3rd March, after the scheme received a huge response from unemployed youth across the state.

This new facility has been launched by the West Bengal government's Sports and Youth Affairs Department. With this facility, people can get answers to their queries and can also raise complaints regarding the 'Banglar Yuva Sathi' scheme. People can dial 6292248888 and get information regarding the status of their applications. This facility will be open from Monday to Friday, from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm, excluding public holidays.

What is the Yuva Sathi Scheme?

The Banglar Yuva Sathi scheme was launched by the Mamata government in West Bengal. This scheme was launched to assist unemployed youth in West Bengal. With this scheme, the unemployed youth in West Bengal will receive a monthly allowance of ₹1,500 until they get a job.

This scheme was announced in February by West Bengal Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya in the West Bengal Budget 2026-27. This scheme requires an allocation of ₹5,000 crores.

The response has been massive. According to official sources, more than 84 lakh applications have been received till 26th February, which is the last date for applying. Of these, around 65 lakh applications have been submitted through applications made at camps organised in all 294 Assembly constituencies of the state. Another 19 lakh applications have been submitted online.

Who is eligible?

As per the guidelines of the scheme, unemployed youth of West Bengal origin who are permanent residents of West Bengal and have passed the Madhyamik examination of class 10 are eligible to apply for the scheme. The age of the applicants should be between 21 and 40 years.

The window for applying is open from 15th February to 26th February. The selected candidates will start receiving ₹1,500 per month from April. The stipend will be given for a maximum of five years if the person does not secure a job during that period.

However, there is an important condition. Those who are already receiving benefits under other state schemes, such as Lakshmi Bhandar or Krishak Bandhu, will not be eligible for the Yuva Sathi scheme.

Documents and payment process

Applicants are required to submit copies of their Class 10 marksheet or certificate, age proof, Aadhaar card or voter ID, bank account details, a passport-size photograph, mobile number, and email ID. Once the documents are verified, the money will be directly transferred to the beneficiary's bank account.

With such a large number of applications, the newly launched helpdesk is expected to play a key role in ensuring the smooth implementation of the scheme.
