A weight loss expert has set out a simple method to tackle body fat - and it involves no counting, weighing or measuring. Fraser Reynolds says his recommended foods not only make it easier to stick to fewer calories but it means less hunger and cravings leading to more consistency.
The nutritionist, who has more than 1.2m followers on Facebook and 2.5k on YouTube, says on his FB post: "Most people don’t fail fat loss because they’re eating too much food. They fail because they’re eating the wrong types of food."
He goes on to show the difference between high-calorie and low-calorie foods, saying: "Look at the difference. That’s 200 calories of chocolate… gone in about 14 seconds.
"But 200 calories of vegetables? You’d be chewing for about three to five business days. And this is where everything changes."
The expert continues: "Vegetables are high in volume, high in fibre, and ridiculously low in calories. Which means you can eat more food, feel fuller, and still lose body fat. Not because vegetables are magic. But because they make a calorie deficit easier to stick to.
"Less hunger. Less cravings. More consistency. And consistency is the thing that actually drives results."
The Scottish author, who wrote books including Speedy High Protein, also has tips for how to achieve the goal without tracking calories, advising the "half plate method". This involves:
He says this is "Simple. Sustainable. Effective." He adds: "Fat loss doesn’t need to feel like suffering."
In an accompanying video, he explains further. He starts by showing what 200 calories of aubergine, cucumber, peppers, carrots, broccoli and mixed salad each look like. He then tells his viewers: "We all know vegetables are important, but here's what most people miss when trying to lose body fat.
"Now all these foods are high in volume, high in fibre and loaded with water and nutrients, meaning that it's going to keep you satisfied over the course of the day. This is your secret weapon when it comes to fat loss.
"The best way to utilise these types of food during the fat loss phase, especially if you don't want to track calories, is to use the half-and-half method. What this means is that every plate of food you consume try to fill up half the plate with these high volume, low calorie foods. Fat Loss doesn't have to be miserable."
