New Delhi: March month in Delhi-NCR started with clear skies and rising temperatures, after an unusually warm February. The India Meteorological Department has warned that minimum temperatures will be significantly above normal in the coming days.

Delhi to have dry weather, temperatures to rise

According to the IMD, Delhi will witness dry weather between March 2 to March 4. The day time temperatures would also steadily rise in the coming days. They said that the national capital would see mainly clear skies on March 2 and 3. However there may be occasional strong winds going up to 25 kilometers per hour.

The maximum temperatures are expected to be between 31 to 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum can be between 14-17 degrees Celsius, added the weather department.

By March 4, the maximum temperature in the city may rise to 35 degrees Celsius. This would be above normal for this time of the year, said IMD. The national capital would not get any rains in these time period, according to the forecast.

Western disturbance, rains in Jammu and Kashmir

While Delhi would have a dry and warm weather on Holi, Jammu and Kashmir might see rains. Starting March 4, a fresh Western disturbance is likely to hit the Western Himalayan region. It will however not have much of an impact on the plains.

In Jammu and Kashmir however, rainfall and a bit of snowfall is possible between March 4 to March 7. These would be due to the Western disturbance. In the states of Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, this disturbance would bring strong surface winds of 20 to 30 kmph, on March 2 and March 3.

Temperatures to rise in several states

Meanwhile, it is not just Delhi which would see a rise in temperatures. The IMD said that Uttar Pradesh in the North and several other Central Indian states are likely to witness a rise in temperatures in the coming days. The temperatures are likely to rise by 2 to 5 degrees Celsius in these regions.

Meanwhile, both the maximum and minimum temperatures in UP are currently above normal. This has led to warmer days and nights.

In Bihar and Jharkhand, the temperatures are likely to remain 3 to 5 degrees Celsius above normal in the coming days, predicted IMD. No rainfall is expected in these states, with both daytime and night temperatures rising and leading to warmer climates. Hot and humid weather is expected in Konkan region, Goa and Gujarat between March 4 to 7.
