Hobart, 1 March. While captain Alyssa Healy announced her retirement from ODI cricket with a explosive century (158 runs, 98 balls, two sixes, 27 fours) at Bellerive Oval on Sunday, her Australian team was successful in achieving a clean sweep by 3-0 by thrashing world champion India by 185 runs in the third and last women’s ODI international cricket match.

India limited to 224 against huge target of 410 runs

Obliged to bat first, the Australians posted a huge score of 409 runs for seven wickets with the help of 35-year-old Healy, who played her final ODI international amid the applause of the Indian team, and Beth Mooney (106 not out, 84 balls, one six, 10 fours). In reply, the Indian team was all out for 224 runs in 45.1 overs.

It is noteworthy that Healy will bid farewell to his illustrious international career after the only day-night Test match played with pink ball against India in Perth from March 6. Healy has scored 3777 runs in 126 ODI matches, which includes eight centuries and 19 half-centuries.

Healy made century partnerships with Woll and Mooney

If we look at the Australian innings, after the early wicket of Phoebe Litchfield (14), ‘Player of the Match’ Healy and Georgia Voll (62 runs, 52 balls, one six, seven fours) made a partnership of 134 runs for the second wicket, while with the partnership of 145 runs for the third wicket between Healy and Mooney, the host team was successful in reaching a huge score.

Sri Charani became the third bowler to give away more than 100 runs.

Annabel Sutherland (23 runs, 20 balls, three fours) and Nicola Carey (34 not out, 15 balls, one six, four fours) also showed sharp hands with Mooney in the end. For India, Sneh Rana (2-66) and Shri Charani (2-106) shared four wickets among themselves. But Sri Charani became only the third bowler to concede more than 100 runs in an ODI.

Not a single Indian batsman could reach a half-century

In front of the huge target, not a single batsman of the Indian team could cross the half-century mark. Sneh Rana (44 runs, 74 balls, six fours) was the top scorer. Apart from them, Jemimah Rodrigues (42 runs, 29 balls, nine fours), Deepti Sharma (29 runs), opener Pratika Rawal (27 runs) and captain Harmanpreet Kaur (25 runs) could go above 20 runs. However, powerful opener Smriti Mandhana failed to open the account. Australian leg spinner Alana King (4-33) caused the most damage to the visitors. Georgia Wareham took the last two wickets, conceding just three runs.

score card

India had lost the first two ODIs by six and five wickets respectively. However, the visiting team had won the last three-match T20 series 2-1. Australia now leads 8-4 on points in this series across all three formats. The trophy for the series across all three formats will be decided on the basis of points, with two points for each T20 and 50-over win and four points for a Test win.
