Navi Mumbai: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday expressed deep concern over the religious conversion taking place through luring in Punjab. Addressing the ‘Hind-di-Chadar’ program organized on the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Teg Bahadur in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, he appealed to the Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab and the common people there to immediately stop it.
Recalling the sacrifice of Sikh Gurus, Amit Shah said that those who change their religion due to greed cannot be true followers of their great Gurus. He urged the Punjab government and people of all religions to work together to stop this practice.
In his address, the Home Minister emphasized on the supreme sacrifice of Guru Teg Bahadur. He said that Guru Sahib endured atrocities, but he never bowed down. He sacrificed his life to protect the religion of others. Shah said that if Guru Tegh Bahadur had not sacrificed his life to save Hinduism, there would not have been a single Hindu left in the world today. He admitted that earlier some people had objected to his statement, but this is a truth which everyone should accept.
Referring to the time of Mughal ruler Aurangzeb, Amit Shah said that when Kashmiri Pandits were being tortured, he had gone to Guru Tegh Bahadur for help. Then Guru Sahib challenged Aurangzeb that if he could change his religion, then everyone else would also change their religion.
He further said that Aurangzeb took this as a challenge and brutally killed the Guru’s companions, but Guru Tegh Bahadur remained steadfast in his determination and ultimately sacrificed himself to protect the religion. His sacrifice gave inspiration and courage to the Hindus to continue their fight. Shah said that all the people who believe in Sanatan Dharma will always be grateful to the Sikh Gurus.
