Social media platform Instagram has also launched its users on Google TV by taking the experience out of mobile. After debuting on Amazon Fire TV in late 2025, it is now available for Google TV devices as well. This means that users can now view Reels, photos and posts on the big screen in their living room. The move is part of Instagram’s strategy to compete with video-friendly platforms like YouTube.
The Instagram app on Google TV can be easily operated through the TV remote. The content is organized into categories like comedy, music, sports and lifestyle. As soon as a user clicks on a reel, the video starts playing immediately, and when it ends, the next video auto-plays. This experience is different from mobile scrolling, rather it provides an experience similar to watching TV channels.
The Instagram TV app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. Users can scan the QR code for login or fill in the details manually. Up to five accounts can be linked to a single TV, so different family members can use the app from their own accounts.
Currently this feature is available in America, but the company is planning to introduce it in other countries also soon. This makes it clear that Instagram no longer wants to be limited to just mobile apps, but also wants to make its presence felt on TV screens in homes.
