IAS Success Story: A girl who had big dreams, but the path was not easy. Life tested him again and again. Mother was battling cancer, there was an atmosphere of anxiety and pain in the house. Most people break down in such situations, but Pallavi Verma made pain her strength. She converted her tears into intentions and decided that she would remain an officer.
Pallavi Verma, resident of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, did her graduation in Biotechnology. She was the first girl in her family to reach university. After completing his studies, he worked as a software tester in Chennai for about 10-11 months. But he wanted to do something big. Then he decided to join civil services and started preparing for UPSC exam.
Pallavi devoted herself completely to UPSC preparation since 2013. Between 2013 and 2020, he appeared for the exam several times. Thrice she failed in prelims, once her hopes were dashed in mains and thrice she could not get selected even after reaching the interview. Six consecutive failures definitely tested his courage, but he did not give up.
During his preparation, his mother was battling cancer and undergoing chemotherapy. The atmosphere at home was very emotional and challenging. It was not easy to see her parents in pain, but Pallavi controlled herself. He did not make pain a weakness, but an inspiration. Seeing his dedication, his parents also gave full support.
After repeated failures, Pallavi changed her strategy in 2020. Started studying regularly in the library by making a time-table. Recognized my weaknesses and especially focused on answer writing. The hard work paid off and he secured 340th rank in his 7th attempt. With this his dream of becoming an IAS was fulfilled.
Pallavi believes that no matter what the circumstances are, one should never stop moving forward. She advises the candidates preparing for regular practice, answer writing and introspection. He says that identifying your weaknesses and improving them is the real key to success.
