Kerala High Court has banned the film ‘The Kerala Story 2’ An interim stay has been put on the release of. After the court order, the film could not be released in theaters on the scheduled date of 27 February. During the hearing of the case, the court raised serious questions on the subject matter of the film and the possible effects to it and directed to ban the screening till the next hearing.


The petitioners had argued in the court that the story and presentation of the film were likely to create social tension in the state. He said that there are questions on the factuality of some aspects shown in the film, which need to be investigated. At the same time, on behalf of the filmmakers, it was said that this is a creative expression and the film should be allowed to be released under the freedom of expression.


After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the court took a balanced stance and put a temporary stay on the release. The High Court has sought replies from the state government and the parties concerned and has fixed the date of next hearing of the case.


Due to postponement of the film’s release, distributors and cinema hall operators will also have to wait. Now all eyes are on the next hearing, where the court will clarify the future direction.
