New Delhi: Real Madrid and Manchester City will meet again in the Champions League round of 16, while holders Paris Saint-Germain will take on Chelsea. The round of 16 draw took place at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon on Friday, February 26. Madrid and City have met several times in the recent season, and the first leg will be the 11th match between them in the tournament since 2020.

They have faced off in the knockouts games in each of the last four UCL campaigns, and Real Madrid have emerged victorious in three of those encounters. Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) will face Chelsea, who defeated them in the Club World Cup final.

Newcastle will face Barcelona, and Liverpool will square off against Galatasaray. Arsenal will play against Bayer Leverkusen, and Tottenham will take on Atletico Madrid. Meanwhile, giant-killers Bodo/Glimt will play against Sporting Lisbon, and Atalanta will square off against Bayern Munich in the round of 16.

The seeded clubs, who finished in the top eight of the UCL league phase, were drawn against one of the eight playoff winners. They will have the advantage of playing the second legs at home. The first leg of the round of 16 will be played on March 10-11, and the second leg scheduled for March 17-18.

In the Champions League quarterfinals, the winner of PSG vs. Chelsea will take on Galatasaray or Liverpool, Bayern Munich could face Real Madrid or Manchester City. Newcastle or Barcelona will square off against Atlético or Spurs while Arsenal will face Bodo or Sporting if they defeat Leverkusen.
