The delivery was moving towards the area outside off stump. Iqbal attempted to defend the delivery but was beaten. The delivery passed through Iqbal's bat and hit the top of the off stump. The umpire required more evidence before giving his verdict. The reason for this became clear in a short while. The bails did not fall as the ball made contact with the stump. Some players of the Karnataka team walked towards the stumps to check if the bails had fallen. But they were intact. This was an unusual situation where the ball hit the stumps, and the batsman was allowed to continue batting.

This incident turned out to be a viral where the audience expressed their shock at what they saw in the major final.
