KL Rahul had a brief stay at the crease as he fell on day three of the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 final. He was trapped with a peach of a delivery by Auqib Nabi and a smart review by Jammu and Kashmir.

Karnataka had the task of responding to Jammu & Kashmir's massive total of 584 after their bowlers, led by a five-wicket haul from Prasidh Krishna, came back into the game on the second day.

Rahul and Mayank Agarwal were expected to get their side off to a solid start and faced the new ball cautiously as the pitch was aiding the fast bowlers.

Nabi, in the 12th over, bowled a back-of-length delivery in the corridor outside off-stump and Rahul attempted to defend the ball which came back in sharply, taking a faint edge through to wicketkeeper Kanhaiya Wadhawan.

The initial shout of not out by the umpire was reviewed by the Jammu & Kashmir players, which, on replay, showed a spike on UltraEdge, and the decision was overturned. Rahul had to depart after a short stay at the crease where he scored 13 off 39 balls, which included two boundaries. Karnataka were 27/1 at this point.

This would be a blow for KL Rahul who had two centuries under his belt-one against Mumbai in the quarterfinal and another against Uttarakhand in the semifinal of this Ranji season.

Agarwal, Padikkal Try to Rebuild

By lunch, Karnataka had reached 35/1 in 13 overs with Mayank Agarwal unbeaten on 16 off 37 balls. Devdutt Padikkal walked in to join him at the crease and played a cover drive to get off the mark with a boundary off Nabi.

Nabi has had a phenomenal season and this was his 56th wicket of the tournament, taking him to the top of the wicket-takers' list.

Earlier, Paras Dogra, the Jammu & Kashmir skipper, had won the toss and elected to bat first. Shubham Pundir scored 121, Yawar Hassan (88), Dogra (70), Wadhawan (70), and Sahil Lotra (72) all chipped in with handy contributions.

Yudhvir Singh Charak hit a quick 30 off 28 balls and was run out by Padikkal. Prasidh Krishna produced an excellent spell of fast bowling, picking up 5 wickets for 98 runs off 34.1 overs with seven maidens.

The match is evenly poised between both sides and a possible draw is on the cards.
