Kobbie Mainoo is reportedly yet to be offered a new contract by Manchester United as they face the prospect of losing two crucial midfielders. The Red Devils academy product is currently contracted until the summer of 2027, but his long-term future at Old Trafford has been brought into doubt in recent seasons.

Mainoo rejected a contract extension just over a year ago, whilst also requesting a loan departure from the club, having found his playing time diminished under former head coach Ruben Amorim. Despite rediscovering his place in the starting lineup under Michael Carrick, negotiations over a prolonged deal have reportedly stalled. According to The Sun, club executives are yet to formally resume discussions regarding a fresh contract.

Mainoo, 20, remains eager to continue at the club, having accumulated 92 appearances since breaking into the first team during the 2022/23 campaign. United will be equally determined to retain him, particularly given that fellow midfielder Casemiro has already confirmed his departure this summer.

A clause existed to extend his contract by a further season; however, United have confirmed that option will not be triggered. That resolution has afforded the 34-year-old considerable time to contemplate his next move.

MLS already represents a possibility for Casemiro, having holidayed in Florida and travelled to Miami earlier this month. His wife Ana was also spotted in Las Vegas.

Whilst a move to the United States remains possible, the Brazilian is giving more thought to remaining in Europe. Casemiro still owns a property in Madrid, while a transfer to Serie A could present another avenue.

Were he to pursue that route, he would be following former Real Madrid colleague Luka Modric, who signed for AC Milan at the beginning of the campaign.

"I will carry Manchester United with me throughout my entire life," Casemiro said upon his exit from the club being confirmed. "From the first day that I walked out at this beautiful stadium, I felt the passion of Old Trafford and the love that I now share with our supporters for this special club.

"It is not time to say goodbye; there are many more memories to create during the next four months. We still have a lot to fight for together; my complete focus will, as always, remain on giving my everything to help our club to succeed."

Irrespective of the futures of both Casemiro and Mainoo, the Red Devils are still pushing to sign a new midfielder this summer.
