Railway ALP New Recruitment 2026: If you want a government job in the Railways, a new recruitment drive is coming soon. The Railway Ministry has cleared the way for new recruitment for over 11,000 Assistant Loco Pilot positions. This ALP recruitment has been approved. Following this, the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has also released zone-wise vacancies for Assistant Pilots. New recruitment will be initiated based on the number of Assistant Loco Pilots required for each zone.

The railway-wise breakdown of this new ALP vacancy has also been released. You can see it in the RRB's new notice. The East Coast Railway has the highest number of vacancies, 1,625. This is followed by the South Eastern Railway with 1,531 posts and the Central Railway with 1,400 posts. A new notification for a combined total of 11,127 posts will be issued in 2026.

What are the eligibility requirements for RRB ALP Recruitment?

Educational Qualification: Matriculation (10th)/SSLC from a recognized board plus ITI in the trades of Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Millwright/Maintenance Mechanic, Mechanic (Radio & TV), Electronics Mechanic, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Wireman, Tractor Mechanic, Armature & Coil Winder, Mechanic (Diesel), Heat Engine, Turner, Machinist, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic from an NCVT/SCVT approved institute or Matriculation/SSLC plus apprenticeship in the above mentioned trades.

Age Limit: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and a maximum of 30 years of age. Candidates belonging to reserved categories will be eligible for age relaxation as per Railway rules. To do so, you must submit your category certificate at the time of application.

How much salary will a Railway Assistant Loco Pilot earn?

Assistant Loco Pilots will receive a starting salary of ₹19,900 per month at Level 2 as per the 7th Pay Commission. They will also receive other perks and benefits, making their monthly salary even more attractive.

In this recruitment process, candidates will be selected through stages such as CBT-1, CBT-2, Computer-Based Aptitude Test, Document Verification, and Medical Test. Negative marking will apply in both CBTs. The exam will be conducted in multiple shifts. Therefore, the result will also be subject to normalization.
