Anjali Tendulkar, the wife of former Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, made a visit to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai on Tuesday to check on Salim Khan's health. This gesture reflects her support for Salman Khan's family during a challenging period. Salim Khan, aged 90, was admitted to the hospital on February 17 and is currently on the path to recovery. He is not only the father of Bollywood icon Salman Khan but also a renowned screenwriter, actor, and film producer. Salim is celebrated for his collaboration with Javed Akhtar, forming the influential screenwriting duo Salim-Javed, which transformed Indian cinema in the 1970s. They created the iconic 'Angry Young Man' character and wrote classics such as Sholay, Deewaar, and Zanjeer. After her visit, Anjali Tendulkar left the hospital.
Previously, on February 22, Shah Rukh Khan visited the hospital, following Aamir Khan's visit with his girlfriend, Gauri Spratt, to check on the health of the veteran screenwriter.
Salim Khan was admitted after experiencing a minor brain hemorrhage. Medical professionals have reported that his condition is stable, and he is being closely monitored in the intensive care unit (ICU).
Dr. Jalil Parkar provided clarification, stating that no surgical procedures were necessary. "There was no surgery performed. It was a procedure which we usually do. Yes, he had a brain hemorrhage, which was very minimal, and did not require any surgical intervention. There was no need for any surgery," he explained, emphasizing the minimal nature of the hemorrhage.
According to an official statement from the hospital, Salim Khan was admitted at 8:30 AM under the supervision of Dr. Jalil D Parkar, a pulmonologist in the Department of Chest Medicine. He was brought to the emergency department by his family doctor and subsequently moved to the ICU for further monitoring.
Since his admission, numerous prominent figures from the film industry have visited Salim Khan. Notably, veteran writer Javed Akhtar was seen at the hospital on Wednesday to visit his long-time friend. Additionally, politician Rahool N Kanal and actress Lulia Vantur have also paid their respects.
