How to make Gujiya without mold

  • To make moldless Gujiya, first mix two spoons of ghee in flour and rub it with hands. Add water little by little and knead a stiff dough. Keep it covered for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • To make Gujiya stuffing, fry the mawa in a pan. After this, dry roast the semolina also. Mix both the things together. Prepare the stuffing by mixing finely chopped dry fruits, coconut powder and sugar in it.
  • To make Gujiya without a mould, make a small ball of dough and roll it into a round shape as big as a puri. Now place a small bowl upside down and press it on the puri, so that you get a perfect round shape. Remove its extra corners.
  • Now place one to two spoons of stuffing in the middle of the Gujiya. Apply water on the edges and fold the Gujiya in half. Now keep pressing lightly on the edges with the back part of the spoon. This will create a beautiful design and the Gujiya will also seal well. You can also use a rolling spoon for this.
  • Now heat oil or ghee in a pan to fry the Gujiya. When it becomes medium hot, add two to three Gujiyas in it and cook till it turns golden brown. Bake all the gujiyas like this.

Important tips for making Gujiya

While making Gujiya, keep in mind that the dough should not be too soft, otherwise the Gujiya may burst. The stuffing should be cold, filling hot stuffing may cause the gujiya to burst. While frying, keep the gas flame medium, too high flame can burn the Gujiyas and in slow flame, ghee or oil can fill inside the Gujiyas. If you want to choose a healthy option, then you can also bake Gujiya for 15 to 20 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius.
