Amazon Bengaluru Office: E-commerce giant Amazon opened its second largest office in Asia on February 23 in Kattigenahalli on the outskirts of Bengaluru. This 12-storey campus spread over 1.1 million square feet is equipped with the latest facilities. More than 7,000 employees from departments like e-commerce, operations, payments, technology and seller services will work in this office.
The company will invest another Rs 3.20 lakh crore by 2030
This new campus of Amazon is built on about 5 acres of land. Amazon’s Global Affairs and Legal Officer David Zapolsky said that the pace of technology adoption in India and the enthusiasm for AI is more than any other country in the world. He said that Amazon has so far invested $40 billion (about Rs 3.60 lakh crore) in all its businesses in India. The company has promised additional investment of $35 billion (about Rs 3.20 lakh crore) by 2030.
Amazon Now will now start its work in other countries around the world as well.
David Zapolsky said that Amazon Now (Quick Commerce Outlet), designed for India’s fast-growing cities, has been very successful. The company is now expanding this Indian model in markets like Middle East, North America, Europe and Latin America. Minister M.B. Patil said, “Bangalore has emerged as a global innovation hub.”
Karnataka’s Heavy and Medium Industries Minister, M.B. Patil also attended the inauguration ceremony of the campus. He said that Amazon’s continued investment in Bengaluru reflects India’s strengthening position as a global technology and innovation hub. He further said that such a big campus not only creates jobs but also strengthens the local ecosystem and the digital economy of the country.
