Over the past few years, South Indian cinema has expanded its reach beyond national borders and earned global recognition. The 70th edition of the Filmfare Awards South, presented with support from Kerala Tourism, took place at the Adlux Convention Centre in Kochi on February 21. The event recognised outstanding achievements in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam films.


In the Telugu category, Pushpa 2, starring Allu Arjun, secured five awards. In Malayalam, Aadujeevitham, led by Prithviraj Sukumaran, won the highest number of honours. Sivakarthikeyan’s Amaran emerged as a major winner in Tamil. In the Kannada section, Shakhahaari was named Best Film, while Prithvi Konanur won Best Director for Hadinelentu.
