Those of us who are parents to a cat or dog (or pet of some sort) know all too well the anxiety that comes with leaving our furry family members home alone for work or trips. But one solution I've found when it comes to leaving my beloved cat is toinstall a home camerato keep an eye on them, and the one I use has just dropped in price on Amazon.

Now costing £19.98 instead of £27.99, the Tapo C210 2K 3MP Pan/Tilt Indoor Camera is a nifty little device that is relatively inconspicuous thanks to its small stature. At this relatively affordable cost, it's simple in function and essentially streams live footage of the area in which the camera is placed to users' phones - so it's best to place it in a space where your pet is going to lounge.

Allowing users to check on their home whilst out, the camera uses wifi to connect via the Tapo app and even has night vision settings for lower light levels. With a 360° pan/tilt, it could also be used as a baby monitor too and is equipped with baby-crying detection and precise motion tracking, which helps keep babies and pets in view at all times.

It sends notifications via its Tapo app when motion is detected and can distinguish between animals and people, too, which is great for security purposes when going on holiday, even if the pet is being looked after elsewhere.

Alongside these features, it also has a built-in microphone and speaker, which enables users to talk to the receiving party - be it a pet or baby.

For those wanting to upgrade their footage, enabling it to be saved and recorded, the camera supports local microSD storage up to 512 GB with the option to add Tapo Care cloud storage with a free trial.

Although I just have the standard account, meaning I don't pay extra for premium settings and find it works just fine for checking in. For those who'd rather have a few more fun features, such as treat-throwing as well as barking/vomiting/eating/drinking/chewing notifications, the Furbo camera is a great piece of kit and is currently on sale.

With a Scandi-inspired design for dogs - theFurbo 360° Dog Camera - and cats -Furbo 360° Cat Camera, which comes with an added toy for keeping cats occupied, the aesthetically pleasing camera is now reduced to £49, down from £159 for the camera alone. Meanwhile, its smart alerts subscription is now down from £7.99 per month.

While this device is relatively large in comparison to the Tapopiece - albeit sleek and not an eyesore - those wanting something smaller can get the Blink Mini Indoor Plug-In CCTV Smart Security Camera for £9.99 at Argos. It also comes with motion detection and two-way audio that lets you monitor the inside of your home day and night.

Although I must say that, as far as cameras are concerned, the Tapo C210 2K 3MP Pan/Tilt Indoor Camerahas been a godsend for me as a relatively worrisome cat-mum. My only gripe is that it must be powered with a cable, meaning it must be placed near a power socket.

While I've made it work, covering up the wire as best I can to avoid any trip hazards (it isn't best placed next to the plug socket), if it could be charged and powered via a battery, meaning it can be easily moved, it would make things much easier.

I'm not the only one impressed by this little camera, as it's received an impressive 4.6-star rating on Amazon, with one shopper noting: "This is a great item, which exceeded my expectations. I didn't fully read the specs before buying - I already have some Tapo products which work well, and this seemed cheap for an indoor camera, so I just ordered it, as I only wanted something to check in on the puppy with when we were out. This is set up in our hallway, where the dog mainly sits waiting while we're out.

"As with other Tapo products, setup was a doddle, and it uses the same Tapo app as the lightbulbs. Alexa detected and added it automatically.

"The picture quality is great, even in night mode, and it zooms in well. Sound quality is good. I don't use the recording function so I can't comment on that, but I see you can pay for a cloud recording service or use an SD card to record."

Another shared: "Excellent cameras. Minimal advertising on their app, too - which was the selling point for me. I had an alternative camera by YI, but their advertising is so pervasive and restrictive when all I want to do is have a quick look at my pets at home. So I got this camera by Tapo, and it is far superior in comparison. Minimal advertising and a lot of user-friendly features in the app."
