Lt. General (Retd) L. Nishikanta Singh has been appointed Advisor (Coordination) and Krishnananda Samurailatpam Sharma as Advisor (Policy Matter) to the Chief Minister of Manipur for a period of one year. These appointments were made in public interest following a recent Cabinet decision, aiming to contribute to the state's growth and development.

Guwahati: Lt. General (Retd) L. Nishikanta Singh has been appointed as Advisor (Coordination) to the Chief Minister of Manipur.

According to orders issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, Government of Manipur, the appointments were made following a decision taken during a Cabinet meeting held on February 17. The order stated that the appointments were made in public interest for a period of one year with immediate effect.

Krishnananda Samurailatpam Sharma appointed as Advisor (Policy Matter) to Chief Minister for one year, effective immediately in public interest, following the cabinet decision.

Over 260 people were killed, more than 1,500 injured, and over 60,000 people were displaced after the ethnic violence broke out between the Meitei and the Kuki Zo people on May 3, 2023, when a ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ was organised in the hill districts to protest the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe status.
