New Delhi. The market for sub-4-metre SUVs and compact crossovers in India is huge and offers plenty of options for buyers. Now many more new models are going to come in this segment. At the same time, many popular sub-compact SUVs are going to get facelifts and generation updates in the next few years. Let us know about 7 such compact SUVs to be launched in the Indian market.
Testing models of the new 2026 Maruti Brezza facelift have started appearing, which suggests that its launch is not far away. The updated model is expected to get minor changes in design and some new features. According to media reports, the new Brezza can be offered with the existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine as well as a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine taken from the French. A new 6-speed manual gearbox can also be found in the turbo petrol variant.
The new facelift model of Hyundai Exeter may hit showrooms by mid-2026. There will be slight changes in the styling of this micro SUV, but its signature boxy and powerful design will remain. On the inside, it may get a larger touchscreen, new trims, upholstery and an updated instrument console. Talking about the engine, this mini SUV will continue to have the same 82 bhp 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and CNG option.
The Maruti Front Facelift is also undergoing testing and is expected to be launched in 2027. Its biggest upgrades will include ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) and a stronger hybrid engine. This compact crossover could be the company's first model to be equipped with a 1.2-litre petrol hybrid engine, which the company is developing itself.
There is no official information yet about the launch date of the new generation Kia Sonet. The sub-compact SUV is expected to see major changes both inside and out, which will be inspired by the new Seltos. However, there will be no change in its engine options.
The new generation Mahindra XUV 3XO may hit Indian roads in mid-2028 or early 2029. However, no official announcement has been made yet. This new SUV will be based on the Mahindra Vision The new XUV 3XO is expected to use the NU_IQ platform, which supports multiple powertrain options.
The new generation Tata Nexon may be launched in 2027. Under this project, codenamed 'Project Garuda', the sub-compact SUV will be built on an updated platform and will also see a new design. It is too early to say anything about the features, but it is expected that it will get new interior and trims with ADAS system.
