If you're looking for a staycation in the UK and you're after somewhere that you can escape back in time to, then look no further than one Gloucestershire village.
The picturesque village of Lower Slaughter is one of the most picturesque villages in the Cotswolds, located in Gloucestershire. Despite its dramatic name (from the Old English “slough”, meaning muddy place), it’s a peaceful and charming riverside village known for honey-coloured stone cottages and timeless countryside scenery. The quaint village was recommended to people by travel creator Nina, who posts on Instagram as @traveling.dreamscapes. She shared a reel with her 12,300 followers which she described it as being a UK village where 'nothing new has been built since 1906'.
Nina shared some stunning scenes of the area as she wrote in the caption: "The dreamiest village in the UK that feels frozen in time.
"Can you believe that this little village hasn’t had anything new built since the early 1900s, which is exactly why it feels so untouched and magical!
"Hidden just 5 minutes by car from the famous Bourton-on-the-Water, or a beautiful, light half an hour walk."
She added: "Walking through its quiet streets, you can really feel time slow down. Don’t miss the old mill by the river as it’s a favourite spot to enjoy the views and perfect for soaking in the calm, peaceful vibes of the village.
