The spirit of Santiniketan found a vibrant new expression in Kolkata through a three-day cultural festival that reimagined its rich artistic and intellectual legacy. Celebrating this heritage, Karu, a New Town-based craft store recently organised a three-day grand fiesta. While Santiniketan is inseparable from the philosophy of Rabindranath Tagore , the festival also highlighted the enduring contributions of stalwarts such as Nandalal Basu, Surendranath Kar and Rathindranath Tagore.

Each day featured
Chitralpana, a thoughtfully curated exhibition, alongside panel discussions with eminent voices from the worlds of art, culture and entertainment. The evenings unfolded with acclaimed dance dramas
Basanta and
Shaapmochon, performed in the presence of honoured guests and cultural patrons.

The festival offered Kolkata a rare opportunity to rediscover Santiniketan — not just as a memory, but as a living, evolving cultural ethos.
