If there's one brand that's nailed the art of heirloom kitchenware, it's Le Creuset. The cast iron casseroles are practically a rite of passage - as famous for their durability as they are for that unmistakable enamel shine.

But while the French cookware house is steeped in heritage, it's also quietly become the undisputed champion of colour. From punchy oranges to soft pastels, Le Creuset has turned cookware into a design statement, and now there's a new shade in town.

Bleu Riviera, inspired by the Mediterranean coastline, channels sun-dappled sea views and lazy lunches overlooking the water. According to the brand, the coastal colourway is designed to 'transform the kitchen from a workspace into a sanctuary'.

Fans can expect all the classics in the new shade. The Signature cast iron casserole makes an appearance (naturally), alongside deep skillets and a full suite of accessories (mugs, ramekins and spatulas) all dipped in that ocean-inspired tone.

Of course, this is Le Creuset, so prices reflect the investment-piece status. The largest cast iron round casserole will set fans back £385, for instance.

But for shoppers keen to buy into the look without committing to a three-figure spend, there are smaller options. That includes egg cups at £12, espresso mugs for £15, stackable ramekins at £16 and a spoon rest at £17.

Besides Le Crueset, another kitchenware brand that's familiar with colour is Our Place. The iconic US cookware brand is well known for its collection of vibrant pots and pans, including the Always Pan 2.0, which claims to replace 10 kitchen essentials in one go.

Otherwise, the British pottery brand Emma Bridgewater also offers a wealth of pretty kitchenware and tableware accessories. The Black Toast range is likely the best-known, with its bold black typography against a cream-coloured earthenware base.

For those who can't resist the Bleu Riviera range, Le Creuset items have had a wealth of excellent feedback from keen cooks. A cast iron round casserole devotee said: "I have wanted one for ages and now wish I had bought it years ago. It elevates cooking both visually and functionally, cooks beautifully, and is so easy to clean. Truly worth the investment."

Meanwhile, another shared: "I recently purchased a second 28cm round casserole, having owned my first for nearly 25 years. It's a bit discoloured on the inside but still going strong.

"I purchased a second as I often could do with another when cooking for a crowd. Fantastic for chillies, bolognese, stews and makes the best stovies."

However, someone else experienced a problem: "I bought this, and the lid has chips although it's not yet used."

On a brighter note, this longtime Le Creuset fan said: "We bought our Le Creuset casseroles 35 years ago. They are still going strong.

"Yes, the interior enamel goes grey/brown, but this does not affect functionality. Le Creuset even replaced our wok when the lid broke. Great product and fantastic customer service."
